Looking to revive dull and discoloured teeth?
Dentist-supervised teeth whitening is a simple and safe way to whiten natural tooth enamel. We can determine whether you are a candidate for teeth whitening and what type of whitening system will provide the best results. If you’re in a hurry for whiter teeth, you may decide to have your teeth whitened immediately. Oaklands Dental can provide in-office or at-home teeth whitening solutions.
Consider teeth whitening if your teeth have darkened from age, coffee, tea or smoking. Teeth darkened with yellow, brown or orange spots generally respond better to whitening. Gray-looking stains caused by fluorosis or tetracycline can also be whitened, but results are not as dramatic.
We’re pretty bright here at Oaklands Dental, but no one can really predict how much lighter your teeth will become with treatment. Typically, there is a two-shade improvement as seen on a dentist’s shade guide. The success rate depends upon the type of stain involved and how well you follow treatment instructions.
Teeth whitening cannot lighten artificial materials such as resins, silicates, or porcelains.
If you have very sensitive teeth, periodontal disease or teeth with worn enamel, Dr. Girard may discourage whitening.
